Artisan Feature: Jon Gibson of Gibson Pewter
|
|
As the snow piles up here New Hampshire,
artisans
like Jonathan Gibson like to be hard at work in
their warm studios. Jon continues the tradition of
working with pewter in the same 200 year old barn
where he apprenticed as a young boy. Each piece is
lead-free and made with hands-on care, whether cast,
hammered, or spun. Jon is a state juried member of
the League of NH Craftsmen and has been
recognized by Early American Life Magazine as one of
America's 200 top traditional craftsmen since 1992.
The Gibson Fruit Bowl and Wood-Grain Beaker were
the only pieces of 20th century pewter taken into the
permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts,
Boston." Find more information on Gibson Pewter here.
