Sandy Steen Bartholomew, of Beez Ink Studio, is an illustrator, rubber stamp designer, mixed-media artist and Certified Zentangle Teacher.
Words to describe her images include: whimsical, colorful, bi-polar, anachronistic, silly, creative, and "pwitty". Inspirations include: ancient civilizations, rusty things, childrens' books, her kid's artwork, toys, patterns, architecture and cereal boxes.
Her illustrations run the gamut from cartoony to realistic colored pencil and watercolor. The rubber stamp designs feature characters and props from her "Anachronistic Castle" line, design-y images, and Alex B. art stamps (designed by her son, starting at age 4).
The Beehive is her mini gallery, located inside Wingdoodle (at the same address). Works for sale include cards, prints, t-shirts, rubber stamps, painted furniture, stained glass and Zentangle supplies. The gallery is open M-F 10-5, Sat 10-4 and Sun 10-3
The Belfry is her studio, located above Wingdoodle - where she vandalizes furniture, breaks glass, and teaches "Yoga for Your Brain."
Sandy is available to teach Zentangle to groups of four or more. And she is especially interested in working with teachers, medical and social services professionals, artists, and stressed out parents.
Brainstorming and creative problem solving are a specialty. Most recent creative triumph: constructing a plaster-gauze unicorn head (for a parade), in one afternoon. |
